Tamrind belongs to family Fabaceae. It is long lived bushy tree. It produces fruit known as pod, with a hard brown outer shell and fleshy, juicy acidulous reddish to brown pulp inside.
Tumkur district tamrind is famous for it’s unique pulp and taste.
